And after the major crowds

Niseko United reports roughly 12-16 metres of average seasonal snowfall. Late February sits firmly inside Niseko's historically strong powder window.

Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year) begins on 6 February in 2027. We arrive two weeks later, as the main holiday period wraps up—aiming for a calmer version of Niseko while February is still prime snow season.

  • World-Class Powder: Consistent Siberian winds dropping moisture over Hokkaido create some of the driest, lightest powder snow on earth.

  • Four Resorts, One Pass: Access Grand Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village, and Annupuri seamlessly across 2,191 acres of combined skiable terrain.

  • Extensive Night Skiing: Features the largest floodlit night skiing network in Japan across all four base areas.

-Daily Travel & Terrain: this tour involves skinning to access the best snow available on the given day. Locations are selected based on real-time conditions and include Lower Yotei, Shiribetsu, Nitonupuri, Goshiki Area.

***Does not Include Touring Equipment (Required) All guests must use ski touring or splitboard equipment, including skins, as all backcountry tours involve uphill travel. If you do not have your own gear, rentals are available through multiple local providers.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions that aren’t answered here, please drop our bookings team a message at offseason@lovetrails.com or join the WhatsApp Group.

A seven-night ski and snowboard trip based in Upper Hirafu, Niseko from 20-27 February 2027, with a six-day lift ticket, Love Trails hosts, on mountain and après-ski meetups, opt-in mobility and recovery, and space for 40 guests.

It is best suited to advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders who can ride independently and make responsible terrain choices. Newer riders can join, but lessons and dedicated mountain support are not included.

Yes. The shared twin option is the most accessible solo route, and hosted intros, ride-plan prompts, chalet time, movement sessions, and optional meals make it easy to meet people without forcing every moment into a group itinerary.

The deposit is intended to secure your selected package, with the remaining balance planned across six months. Full room occupancy, second-guest eligibility, deposit basis, payment dates, currency, fees, and cancellation terms will be displayed before you pay.

Guided off-piste days and equipment rental are planned as paid add-ons. Lessons remain separate. Providers, prices, and collection or meeting details will be released later; any off-piste day also depends on ability, conditions, availability, and the correct safety equipment.

Fly into New Chitose Airport (CTS), Hokkaido’s main international airport and the most straightforward gateway to Niseko. From the UK and the US, most journeys will involve one connection—often through Tokyo or another Asian hub. If your flight search lists “Sapporo,” make sure you select New Chitose (CTS), not Okadama Airport.

Pre-Trip Tokyo Shakeout Run

If you plan on arriving to Tokyo early for the pre-trip meetup and shakeout run, that will be taking place on Friday, 19th February 2027.

The main Tokyo airports are Narita (NRT) and Haneda (HND). Either can be flown into on arrival, or departed from to fly to Hokkaido the next day.

The easiest option is a pre-booked resort coach or private transfer from New Chitose Airport to Hirafu Welcome Center. Allow around three hours, depending on stops, traffic and winter conditions, and tell the operator if you are travelling with ski or snowboard bags.

Travelling by train is possible via Otaru to Kutchan, followed by an arranged pickup from Kutchan station to the Gondola Chalets, which is included with your booking.

The coach option will bring you closer and is slightly more straightforward

Airport transfers are not currently included in the trip price.

For transportation to the Gondola Chalets once you've arrived at the HIrafu Welcome Center or Kutchan Station, we will connect you with H2 life to coordinate your pickup. It is also a short ~10 minute walk from the Hirafu Welcome Center to the accommodation if preferred.

Local onsen entry and transport, meals, and drinks are self-pay unless the final itinerary explicitly says otherwise. Love Trails will share onsen guidance, food recommendations, optional group bookings, and easy chalet or konbini options.

Not especially. None of the events revolve solely around alcohol and non-alcoholic options are always available. The focus is very much on enjoying the mountains, snow and activities together.

Absolutely fine! If you love the outdoors, going on adventures and meeting new people - this trip is for you and you’ll be right at home.

Love Trails is an open, warm & diverse community of people, and you don’t need to have been to a prior Love Trails event to join or be welcome - make this your first Love Trails trip of many!

No. Flights and transfers sit outside the base package. Recommended airports, arrival windows, and any optional transfer offer will be shared before travel.

The Tokyo shakeout is a planned, optional Love Trails meetup around the wider trip: an easy social run, no pace pressure, and a chance to move through the city with part of the crew.

The run will take place during the early afternoon on Friday, February 19th.

Members of our group will be staying at Hotel Gracery in Shinjuku beginning on Thursday, February 18th, (https://whgshinjuku.gracery.com/), but you are welcome to book wherever you like and arrive as early as you'd like, if you want to explore the city more.

The exact start time, meeting point, route, and post-run plans are still being confirmed. It sits outside the seven Niseko nights, and Tokyo travel and accommodation is not included.

Plan for comprehensive winter-sports travel insurance that matches how and where you intend to ride, including any off-piste cover needed for an optional guided day. Final insurance requirements and cancellation terms must appear at booking.

Every attendee must be over the age of 18 prior to the 20th Feb 2027.

(Please note that the legal drinking age in Japan is 20.)
