A Guide to Running & Hiking Safely at Love Trails Croatia


Welcome to Love Trails Croatia! This document shares some guidance for things you need to know to enjoy running and hiking here safely, from key details about the Timed Out™ Race to tips on staying prepared and respectful while exploring the trails. 


Timed Out™ - Friday 3rd October, 10:00 🌀

  • Timed Out™ Race: Friday 3rd October, 10:00

  • Distance: ~18km | 800m elevation

  • Aid Stations: 3 (at approx. 5km, 8km, 13km) with water, snacks & first aid 

  • The race has lenient cut-offs at Experience Stations to keep everyone safe

  • Marshals will be out on the race route - please say hi, thank you, and follow their instructions!

  • All other running/hiking experiences during the week are self-sufficient (bring what you need for a day on the trails)

  • When running and hiking, you must have everything on the mandatory Kit List (see below)



Routes & Route Markings 🗺️

  • The  Timed Out™ route is fully marked with event arrows & signage 

  • All other Running & Hiking Experiences use pre-existing trail markings, and there will be a dedicated Run Leader to help guide you

  • GPX files & Strava links are available for you to follow 

  • In all cases, stay on the marked route and do not go off the paths



Respect the Trails🌿

  • Respect others on the trails, slow down, say hello (or ‘Bok’ in Croatian!) and give warning if you’re passing or over taking

  • Absolutely no littering - stash any wrappers or litter deep within your bag or pockets

  • Stick to marked paths, respect nature & close any gates behind you

  • Keep noise down when near villages or homes to respect the neighbours.


Road & Trail Safety ⛰️

  • Be mindful of traffic when running around Baška and take care when crossing roads

  • Terrain around Baška can be very technical, with steep ascents/descents & technical sections

  • Walk if you are unsure, and run within your own ability

  • Be patient on narrow sections and courteous to others 


If You Need to Withdraw from an organised Run or Hike Experience ✋

  • To withdraw from a Running or Hiking Experience, please let one of the Run Leaders know, and make your own way back to Baška

  • For all running & hiking experiences, you’ll need to be self sufficient, our Run Leaders are there to offer guidance with the route

  • For injuries that need medical assistance, call the Lead Medic on the number displayed at Info Point / Race Registration (please save this to your phone)

  • In any emergency, call 112

  • Always stop to help others in difficulty & report to a marshal


If You Need to Withdraw from the Timed Out™ Race ✋

  • To withdraw from the Timed Out™ Race (on Friday only), you must inform a marshal at one of the Aid Stations, or call Race Director on the number displayed at Race Registration (please save this to your phone)

  • For minor injuries, head to the next Aid Station where a marshal can help

  • For injuries that need medical assistance, call the Race Director on the number displayed at Race Registration (please save this to your phone)

  • In any emergency, call 112

  • Always stop to help others in difficulty & report to a marshal

MANDATORY KIT

We have written the mandatory kit list as a guide of what to bring if you are taking part in any hiking & running activities at Love Trails Croatia, including the Timed Out race experience. 

It is the sole responsibility of the participant to wear or carry the items with them at all times from start to finish of all runs, hikes, and races, taking into account any weather at the time. 

Please ensure you pack everything on the kit list, and carry additional layers and equipment based on the weather at the time.
